Weights and Measures Wing of DGIPWM, headed by Controller (Weights & Measures) and assisted by Deputy Controller and Assistant Controller, is responsible for monitoring and inspection of commercial weights and measures at factories, commercial establishments, shops, and other trading units. Inspection and verification of Petrol Pumps & CNG Stations, calibrated tanks, flow meters and dip tanks are done by inspectors throughout Punjab under this wing. Moreover, this wing is also responsible for standardizing commercial units of weighing and measurement, providing conversion factors of these units, recording of data from all over Punjab and verification/re-verification of these articles after their calibration with the working standards against a certain fee. This wing also has a Laboratory of Weights and Measures, duly operated by Lab Engineer, where all the standards and equipment, necessary for the conduction of inspections and verification of weights and measures, are maintained and stored. All the technical guidance and SOPs regarding usage of measuring and weighing instruments/equipment are provided by Lab Engineer under the supervision of the Controller.
